1) What genre have you not yet written but really want to try?

I've never written a film script, but would love to try my hand at one someday. I'm passionate about movies - in fact, I wanted to be a director when I was a teenager.

2) Which authors/books are you most influenced by?

Like a lot of writers, I'm probably still influenced most by the books of my childhood, since these were what shaped my love of reading. The authors I enjoyed the most included Judy Blume, S.E. Hinton, Lloyd Alexander and Sylvia Engdahl.

3) This would make a great film. Any talks of turning your book into a movie?

Thank you! And yes, there have been. Very excitingly, the film rights to the Angel series have recently been optioned. Though this doesn't definitely mean there'll be a movie, it does mean we're one step closer to it - so fingers crossed.

4) If you could have dinner with one of your characters who would it be?

Oh, definitely Alex. I've been in love with him for a long time now (it's OK, my husband's very understanding about my Alex-love!)

5) What's up next for you?

After Angel Fever, I'm planning another YA romance - probably slightly darker than the Angel series, though still with some paranormal aspects. I'm really looking forward to it; my two main characters have been tugging at me for a while now!

L.A. Weatherly is the author of several books for young adults, including Child X. About Angel, she says, "I’ve known Alex for a long time. He first came to me as a character almost twenty years ago, when he was a thief in a fantasy setting - an expert with knives rather than guns. Nothing came of that particular novel, but Alex always stayed with me. He refused to go away, in fact!
