1) PERFECT SHOT sounds like such a great concept. How did you come up with the idea?

Thanks! I was interested in examining how a character is shaped by an awkward, fish-out-of-water experience. London Abrams, the main character, is a goddess on the volleyball court, but when she's
recruited for a modeling competition, she admits she feels like a token jock among the other models. Then there's the whole "crush-attack" aspect. At one point or another, we have all done something wacky or out-of-character because of a crush. So it was fun writing about how a disciplined person like London reacts to being under that spell.

2) What kind of research did you have to do to London to life on the page?

I watched a lot of high school volleyball games. From the look of the teams' uniform to the style of their serves, sets and spikes, I wanted to be as true to the game as possible. For the more fashion-forward scenes, I researched current and predicted style trends, plus I relied
on my memories of visiting fashion shoots as a magazine editor.

3) This book would make an awesome movie. Any interest from studios or producers?

No, no interest yet. But how cool would that be? I could totally see 90210's Tristan Wilds cast as cutie Brent. And singer, Teyana Taylor would be perfect as London--they both have the same tomboy style and big hair!

3) I love the names London and Brent. How do you come up with your character names?

I lived in London for close to two years when I worked with Trace magazine. I haven't been back to visit for a while now, but London will always be my home away from home. That city made a huge impact on my life. And Brent is the name of my very first crush--I was in the first grade! My cousin Mike knew how I felt, so to tease me about it, he'd sing out Brent's name to force a smile. Worked every time--no matter how hard I resisted.

4) What are you working on next?

I'm working on another romantic comedy and a paranormal book. I can never get too much paranormal, so I'm excited about venturing into this genre. Hopefully, I'll be able to share more details about everything in a few months.
