About the Book:

Aphra Connolly is being chased by some very dangerous people. She knows her survival depends upon staying far away from love interest Seth, and listening to her mom’s lectures on the finer points of anonymity and survival. But how is a girl supposed to live under the radar and not think about her boyfriend when she’s in Paris—the most romantic city in the world? When her mom’s contact in Paris is found floating in the Seine with a deadly message stuffed in his mouth, Aphra realizes that she will never be able to stop running unless she confronts the situation head-on. Sneaking away from her mom, Aphra tracks down the criminal mastermind in Italy, only to unwittingly reveal Seth’s location. And her mistake has just put them both in mortal danger. . . .

About the "Death By..." Series:

Aphra Connoly was minding her own business, helping her dad run an exclusive island resort, counting the days before she could escape to the mainland for college - and to find her CIA agent mom, who left her behind years ago. Then one night, Seth Mulo and his family arrived on the island unannounced and everything she thought she knew about herself and her life was flipped upside down. By the time she discovered the top secret connection Seth's parents had with her mom, Aphra was already caught in the middle of the action - and completely in love with their son. But being with Seth might put them both in very real danger...

Check out our exclusive author interview with Linda Gerber!

1) These “Death by” books are fantastic! How do you have such keen insight into the profession of CIA agents and spies? Is there something you’re not telling us (because then you’d have to kill us?)

(whispers) Just between you and me, I’m really a deep under cover CIA operative. I put on my whole outward mid-west mom appearance every morning like a fat suit. Don’t tell my kids.

2) Series like these always fascinate me because I want to know where the author is going and if he/she even knows where they’re going. So do you? Do you have it all plotted out in your head until the end or are you winging it as you go?

I thought I knew where I was going with the first book, but that changed in edits! As a result, the next two books were more plotted out from the beginning. I think by nature I’m more of a pantser – write and discover the story as it unfolds – but this series required a little more inside information than that so I learned to be a plotter.

3) How many books do you plan to write in the Death By series?

I wish I knew the answer to that. My publisher and I have talked about doing more, but I’m working on a couple of other projects with them at the moment. Then I would love to spend more time with Aphra and Seth (and Ryan!)

4) If I could choose how I kicked the bucket, I’d definitely go with “Death by Cupcakes.” What about you?

Is there any question? Death by Chocolate all the way. At least I would die with a smile on my face.

5) What’s up next for you? Another Aphra Connolly adventure or are you working on something new?

Well, I’m always dreaming up new adventures for Aphra (and I get some pretty wild suggestions from my readers, too!) but the project keeping me up at nights these days is my YA paranormal, TRANCE, which will hit the shelves next year. I’ve also got a couple of other projects in the works, but they aren’t declassified… yet.
