Free Book Friday Teens FAQ

Here are a few questions that get asked a lot about our site!

1) Are the books really free?

Yes! Absolutely! 100% FREE! We even pay to ship them for you. There is nothing to buy now, later or ever! Sound too good to be true? Well, it isn't! The authors featured on the site are generous enough to donate their signed books to us and we turn around and give them to you! It's that simple. We just love books and love introducing readers to new authors.

2) How do you pick the winners each week?

The winners are truly chosen at random. Each week we download all the entries into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and use an excel function that randomly assigns a number to each entry. The entries are then sorted from lowest number to highest number and the lowest numbered entries win! It's 100% computerized and we play no part in the picking of the winners.

3) I really want to win this week, can I sign up more than once to improve my chances of being picked?

Unfortunately not. Our sign-up feature has a built-in functionality that automatically deletes duplicate entries, therefore it will do you no good to sign up more than once. So we encourage you not to waste your time! Please only sign-up once per site.

4) Can I sign up to win both the adult book and the teen book in the same week?

Definitely! Feel free to sign up for both. But please remember that only one sign up per site will be counted.

5) I'm an adult who loves teen fiction, can I sign up to win the young adult book on the teen site this week or is it limited to only teens?

I truly believe that young adult fiction is entertaining for readers of any age. Anyone is eligible to win either book on either site, no matter your age. I'm a huge YA reader as well! So please feel free to sign up for both books, but keep in mind you can only sign up once for each.

6) I'm a winner! How/when do I receive my book?

All winners are sent an email to the address they signed up with (this is why including your email address in the form is required, if a winner is selected with no email address, a new name will be drawn). The email you receive as a winner will ask you to email us back with your shipping address so that we can mail you the book! The book will either come from FBF or the author themselves (depending on how the author would like to do it). You can usually expect the book in about 1-2 weeks. However, sometimes they take longer as books are delayed from publishers, authors are on tour and can't get us the signed books until they return, and various other reasons. If your book is going to be delayed for more than 2 weeks, we will usually send you an email letting you know that it's delayed and the reason.

7) I'm an author and I would like to feature my book on the site. How do I do that?

We would love to talk to you more about this. Please visit our participation page to download our participation guide. Or contact us at: info@freebookfriday.com

8) I have a product that I think your site visitors would like, can I advertise on your site?

Absolutely! Please visit our participation page to download our advertising guide or contact us at ads@freebookfriday.com

9) What happens if my book gets lost or damaged in the mail?

Unfortunately, these things do happen from time to time and we can't take responsibility for lost or damaged books. We only receive a limited amount of books from the publisher/author for each giveaway so replacing a lost or damaged book is not possible. We urge all winners to provide us with complete mailing addresses in USPS approved format to ensure that our free books end up where they're supposed to go!

do you have to be a teen to enter?

why can't someone from the Bahamas enter these contests?

Hi Anonymous,

No, you do not have to be a teen to enter the contest. All readers are eligible!

Also, FBF pays for all shipping and handling of the books. In order to keep our costs down so that we can continue to bring you great book-related content, we have to limit where we ship our books to. I apologize that we don't ship to the Bahamas. But we hope that you'll continue to enjoy our fantastic author interviews and book information!

so what do you mean by lowest number wins the book when being choosen computerized.

Hi Anonymous,

Great question! Basically it's just our way of having the computer select the books winners. Excel assigns random numbers to all the entries (this is a function in excel) and then whichever entries get the top five lowest numbers (or however many books we have to giveaway) those entries are the winners! It's a bit like a lottery. I'm sorry if it's a little confusing. If you've never used excel before, I can understand if it makes you go, "huh?" :) But this was the fairest way to go about selecting winners without human involvement. Excel does all the work, we just post the results!

Thanks!
Jessica

I'm just wondering just because I live in Australia and this site looks truly awesome.

It says I'm a winner, so how long will it be until I get the email that asks for my home address? Just wondering so I dont worry :D

Hi Anonymous,

We usually send out winner emails with 1-3 days of the announcement. If you've won and haven't yet received your email after 3 days, please check your spam folder. A lot of times the emails end up there. We wouldn't want you to miss your free book!

Thanks,
FBF

Hi, I'm one of the winners for the book "Noting But Trouble After Midnight" and I've yet to receive my book.
Why is this?

what mailing service do you use? USPS or UPS?

Hi. I was wondering if I could sign up my family members as well? Will it be deleted if they have the same last name?

Thanks

Free Book Friday said...

Hi Anonymous,

To answer your question about family members - duplications are deleted by email so each family member signing up must have a different email address. Also, we don’t allow you to sign up family members on their behalf. Please tell them about the site and encourage them to visit and sign up themselves!

Good luck to you and all the family!

just wondering can you enter again if you have already won a book?(i saw that someone else asked the same qustion but it was never answered)

Free Book Friday said...

Hi Anonymous,

There are no rules about winners not being able to enter again. The winners are chosen randomly by the computer and there is no filter for sorting out previous winners. Everyone gets a fair chance every time. So, yes, enter away!

can people from England enter these contests or do you have a UK site?

Free Book Friday said...

Hi!

Well, for the time being, the free book giveaways are limited only to those with US and Canadian mailing addresses as FBF pays for all shipping costs. We don't have a UK site just yet but we will be sure to announce when we do expand!
