About the Book:

Once you’ve seen, you can’t unsee.

Brielle went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy instead. She’s come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with her grief and her guilt . . . and an incredible, numbing cold she can’t seem to shake.

Jake’s the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption.

Something more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels stand guard, unsure what’s going to happen. And a beauty brighter than either Brielle or Jake has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a realm where all human choices begin.

A realm that only angels and demons—and Brielle—can perceive.

1) Series like these always fascinate me because I want to know where the author is going and if he/she even knows where they’re going. So do you? Do you have it all plotted out in your head until the end or are you winging it as you go?

Authors who have it all plotted out amaze me. I work a little differently—at least I have with this trilogy. I know where I want all my characters to end up by the time readers close the final book, but getting there is an entirely different thing. Sometimes my plot takes control and decides a character’s fate for me and changes everything. It’s in those moments—those quiet, just me and my coffee and my computer moments—that I find myself most in awe of the process.

2) If you could have one super power what would it be?

Flight! For sure. I’ve always been fascinated by things that fly. I blame it on Peter Pan.

3) Which authors/books are you most influenced by?

This is a fun one to answer because I read so widely. Of course, I’m a huge young adult reader and have found myself being represented by an agency that houses so much talent. I’m inspired by so many of them.

And, I’m blessed to be part of a generation of post-Harry-Potter-writers. We’ve seen J.K. Rowling’s imagination in action and it’s an inspiring thing.

There is an endless pool of talented authors out there and I find myself obsessed with so many of them: from Jane Austen and Victor Hugo to my contemporaries like Andrew Klavan, Stephen R. Lawhead, and Ted Dekker. One of my favorite writers is Tasha Alexander. She writes the Lady Emily mysteries and always has a way of making me NEED the next one.

4) What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?

Just this week I finished a middle grade novel called The Romeo and Juliet Code by Phoebe Stone. It was fabulous. I love her voice. I’m also reading Enna Burning by Shannon Hale. Another talented writer who nails voice every single time.

5) What's up next for you?

Right now, I’m editing Broken Wings which is the second book in the Angel Eyes trilogy. And then it’s onto the still untitled book three. I’m staying busy and very grateful for the opportunity.
